Here are the things you will need:

• Black construction paper or card stock (20 x 20 inches)
• Strip of black construction paper or card stock (measure this against the head of your child for better fitting)
• Another piece of construction paper with 6 inches height (for the tassel making)
• Yarn (for the tassel)
• Stapler/Glue
• Hole puncher

Let us first discuss how to make the tassel so that you will all things ready for the actual kindergarten graduation cap making.

What you need to do:

1. Wrap yarn about 15-20 times around the 6-inch construction board. Set aside.
2. Cut a piece of yarn around 16 inches long. This will be the piece that you will slip in the graduation cap but first you have to slip it inside the wrapped yarn in the 6-inch construction board. Tie in a knot to secure the wrapped yarn. Remove the wrapped yarn from the construction board.
3. Cut another piece of yarn around 8 inches long. Use this to tie the wrapped yarn about half inch from the top.
4. Cut out excess yarn.

Once you have prepared the right measurements, you can now proceed to the actual process of making a kindergarten graduation cap:

1. Get the black construction paper or card stock that measures 20 x 20 inches. Fold the corners until they all meet in the middle. Through this, you should have a smaller piece of square that is thicker than the original piece you started with.

2. Fold the corners once again to produce a smaller but sturdier square.

3. Fold the flaps in the center out until the flap reaches the end of the square. These will serve as the anchors for the circular headpiece you are about to make.

4. Punch a small hole in the center of the square and attach the tassel.

7. Let your kids practice wearing their kindergarten graduation cap.

All students, unless they go astray or decide to do something else, will really have to go through graduation. It is basically the goal for every quiz that we take, for every homework that we lazily do and for every academic requirement that we hastily finish and submit. It’s like the bright light at the end of a dark tunnel.

What really is graduation? What does it mean to you or to that person seating next to you day dreaming while the teacher proceeds with the lecture as if speaking in tongue?

Here are some of the meanings of graduation to different people:

Graduation as Freedom

For obvious reasons, graduation means freedom to those students who feel enslaved by the education system and takes schooling as something imposed upon them by their parents or by societal expectations.

Graduation as a Gift

Indeed, graduation is a gift to those parents who worked hard all their life so their children could go to school and be who they want to be. It’s a priceless moment that they can enjoy remembering at the end of every day’s hard toil.

Graduation as Goodbyes

School becomes more than a community for students. It is where they find their own self and it is also where they meet classmates who will eventually become their friends that will take care and be with them like another family. Graduation may be a day when they will have to say goodbye to their best buddies who have been with them for years through all those escapades in and out of school.

Graduation as a New Beginning

Truly, graduation ends a chapter in a student’s academic life. However, as they say the closing of school is only the beginning of the real world. Education is merely the preparation which students or graduates as a lever towards achieving their individual dreams. Thus, it’s a new beginning.

Whatever graduation means surely graduation is a meaningful event to any student.

15 Jul

Different countries may have different laws but when it comes to determining who can be a lawyer, they don’t differ much. One reason is the similarities between our forms of government.  Another reason is the fields of expertise in the practice of law are almost the same in all countries.

The following are examples of these fields of expertise in the law profession – corporate law, real estate law, business and commercial law, civil law, political and administrative law, labor law, criminal law, and international law.

Terminologies may differ from country to country, but they are pretty much analogous. Whether it’s commercial law, criminal law, civil law, international law or labor law, almost all of these are present in every country that has the law profession.

In Lebanon, a set of rules and policies has been established for those who wish to become lawyers and engage in the legal profession. The following are some of the qualifications necessary for Lebanese lawyers:Practicing Law in Lebanon

  5. Has not been discharged from a career as a result of reason in contrast to honor and dignity

Lawyers in Lebanon need to register with either one of the two Bar Associations, the Beirut Bar Association and the Tripoli Bar Association. Also, a Lebanese lawyer must have an office in the area where he wishes to practice.

Aside from the necessary qualifications, lawyers in Lebanon must also follow certain guidelines and are subject to certain restrictions while exercising the legal profession:

  1. A lawyer is not allowed to hold any position as a public servant except as a member of the Parliament or a municipal council
  2. A lawyer is not allowed to practice in commerce, business or journalism (with the exception of legal or scientific journalism) or any vocation which is for profit.
  3. A lawyer cannot become a chairman, vice-chairman or manager of any company.
  4. A lawyer cannot act as an expert in a court or any other organization.
  5. A lawyer cannot become the Speaker of Prime Minister of Parliament. If he wishes to be, he has to suspend his practice of profession and must inform the Bar President regarding the matter.

Finally, lawyers in Lebanon must observe ethics in the exercise of their profession. Probably the best example of adherence to ethical conduct is inhibiting from activities which might involve a conflict of interest. For instance, a lawyer who is presently a Member of Parliament can’t act as counsel in a case which involves the State or one of its public establishments.
